Why this, why now

It’s hard to find out where a seed came from, who grew it, or what a farm is really doing. Labels are easy to write and hard to check, and good growers can be hard to find.

We think a good source tells you more than what’s for sale. So we’re making a home for the people who grow, save, graft, and sell, and we’re showing what’s known and what isn’t.

How we start

We’re beginning in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia, and opening the directory in stages. We’d rather start smaller and be accurate than start bigger and be wrong.

What comes next

After the first listings, we’ll add growing guides, ways to share what happened after planting, and a map and app to help you find sources near you. Any paid features will come later and will be optional and clearly labeled.
